For maternity session, I say it is up to you to choose. I've worked with many mama-to-be's and some like to shoot when the belly bump is big enough to show in the photos, and some like to shoot before they feel too heavy. In my experience, towards the end of 2nd trimester or beginning of 3rd trimester is a good window.
You might ask - "How many images do I get?"
I truly believe that all the photos are part of your memory, part of your life story, and part of your love story. It is you, your emotion, and the love captured all in the photos I take. For sure, it will be so much more meaningful in your hands than being buried in my hard drive. - This is the reason why I only offer a full gallery service.
I don't want to withhold any images from you. I promise you I will deliver all the great images of everything I capture so you don’t have to worry about missing any part of it. (But if you think I did, please just ask! I will go through the files again to be sure.)
The best time for a newborn session is within the first month after the baby was born in order to capture the smallness of the newborn baby.
My approach with a newborn session is simple - I like to document around the baby's schedule so the baby does not get too stressed. Of course, you can change the baby's outfit a few times but I like to be natural as possible.
When the baby is crying, please pick up the baby and give the baby all the snuggle she needs. If the baby is hungry, feel free to nurse her. I will quietly be around you documenting all that is happening.
However, we probably don't want to take photos of you soaked in the rain. So, I am always open to talk about what you are comfortable with and open to re-schedule our session in the event of unexpected weather.
Personally, I love a cloudy day! The light diffuses through the clouds in a way that makes everyone’s skin look absolutely luminous. Furthermore, I don’t mind a bit of wind, there’s something about the way it adds movement to photos that I’m a real sucker for. And a little drizzle here and there never hurt anyone.
Remember what all of this is about in the first place – it’s not about the Instagram post, it’s not the matching outfits, and it’s not for anyone else except you. Well, and future you.
It’s a great excuse to clock some proper quality time together, invest in your relationship, and be present for this uniquely special time in your lives.
How about making a reservation at your favorite restaurant before or after the session? How about a movie night? Or maybe just relax at your favorite coffee shop? Make this day memorable to you.
Here are some things you can consider:
Bring an umbrella. Clear ones are the best because they allow the light to come through so your faces will still get natural light.
Layer up so you can modify your outfit to the conditions.
Bring a change of clothes just in case it pours and the sun comes out right afterwards.

First of all, let's not worry about the photoshoot. I promise you I will never leave you hanging. I will direct you and lead you all the time. My goal is to capture your true self and your real connection with each other. That said, I will help you to focus on each other and even to focus with the baby inside you, rather than you staring at the camera. So be ready to be yourself and do you. I will capture all the genuine laughs, emotions, and movements that holds true to you.
The more you move the better but I know movement is restricted when you are fully pregnant. So let's move as much as you can. All the photos will be different and natural when there's movement. If you are still, even if I take many photos, they will all look the same. So, let's have you two hold hands, walk, run, dance, and kiss.
Don't feel awkward if I'm not telling you what to do. It means you are doing great and I don't want to break the connection you are having with each other. I'm also just getting different compositions and angles. So, just keep focusing on each other. Consider me invisible even when I have my camera so close to your faces.
I take lots and lots of photos so don't feel obligated to look perfect in every photo. It's my job to go over them and pick the best ones. I also like to shoot in-between candid moments where you are just walking to next destination or helping each other. This is not about you looking perfect in the photos but about you connecting with each other and me capturing that real connection.
