A wedding does not need to be loud to be big. Sometimes all it takes is a ferry across the water from Seattle, a quiet plot of land called Anker, and two people who have decided they belong together.
When you walk inside the house, it is moody and dim—the kind of cozy space that forces everyone to slow down. The couple and their wedding party were gathered around having a late breakfast, completely unbothered by the clock. No rushing, no frantic clipboards—just a genuinely chill group of people sharing a meal, getting hair and makeup done, and letting the morning settle in.
Step outside, though, and the visual story completely transforms. The floral design was nothing short of extraordinary—impeccable, artful arrangements that brought the grounds to life. For the reception, Anker’s clear tent is a photographer's dream. The transparent canopy lets every drop of natural light flood the space, creating a blissful, effortless glow over every single table.
Then, right at golden hour, we slipped away from the reception and stepped out into the lavender field. The sun was low, casting that soft, warm light across the purple rows while two people took a quiet breath together in the middle of it all.
We tend to think weddings require a massive production. But standing there among the lavender at the edge of the Sound, you are reminded that the best days are built on simple things: a late breakfast with your favorite people, incredible flowers, good light, and the person you chose.
